Hello everyone, hopefully someone else has run into this problem!
I have published multiple simulations using Captivate 7 on Windows 8 (forced re-publish of all slides, scalable HTML content, output set as SWF, and Flash Player version is 10) each with navigable main menus, table of contents, etc. Each simulation contains multiple topics for learning, with each topic ranging anywhere from 1 minute to 6 minutes. These simulations have not been made "live" yet, but users with Mac's / running Win7 on VMWare are encountering unintended behavior when viewing the simulations stored locally on their machines. The behavior they are seeing is quite strange, and quite frankly, makes no sense to me. Hopefully someone can follow what I'm trying to get across.
Within each topic, users have to click some area of the screen to advance to the next slide most of the time. Rarely, the narration ends, and after a brief pause, the next slide appears. Using a Windows 7/8/8.1 computer, the simulations behave as intended. Everything is copacetic. Using a Mac on 10.5 or later (and also on Mac's 10.5+ running VMWare Win7), however, strange things are happening. Most of the time, the simulations will wait for the user to click on a button or area to progress to the next slide. But, there are times where it seems as if the slide has "timed out", and progresses to the next step. This happens within individual simulations, and at main menus, where the functionality is to open a new SWF file. Also, there are times where the slide will stop abruptly in the middle of narration, and either pause the slide entirely (forcing the user to either click the play / rewind button), or the simulation will skip ahead to the next slide without the user taking any action OR the narration continuing to completion.
I'm unsure if this will change once the simulations are being viewed in a browser (all files stored in the cloud) vs files stored locally will make any difference. These simulations are set to go live tomorrow, and because of time constraints I was not able to test the simulations on multiple computers before sending them of to Development for implementation. Can anybody help?
