Interaction ID - clarification please

I have been searching this forum and other sites to get an idea of Interaction ID and I am getting confused.

So here are my questions - does each scorable interaction e.g. click box or quiz need to have a unique Interaction ID?

Do I accept the default number assigned by Captivate, do I assign it myself, do I need to get this from my LMS?
