Hi
I'm new to Captivate and need some help using the Software Simulation (automatic Demo mode) in Captivate 7 on a Win8 pc.
The main issue is that the system audio and the keyboard taps are really loud. I know about changing the volume via Audio, Edit but I don't get a separate timeline for the system audio. Not sure why as all the training videos I've watched say that I should get narration and system audio timelines in Software Simulation mode!
So I decided to remove all system audio and keyboard taps completely, but even though I have turned these off in the Record dialog and in all the Recording and Publishing settings, they are still being recorded and I can't get rid of them. I am creating a new project every time to test the effect of my settings, and am not trying to change an existing project, so it should be a 'clean' test.
The other issue, relates to controlling how the slides get created. I'm trying to make a tutorial that walks someone through using some software. It seems that everytime I click on a menu or toolbar it generates another slide. I've learnt to pause my narration so that it doesn't cut me off in the middle of a word, but it's a real nuisance when telling someone to go File, Print, 2 copies, OK ends up going across 4 separate slides. It makes it hard to edit audio, get the captions in the right place etc. Is there anyway to change how Captivate decides where to split the recording? Or can you merge two or three slides back into one slide afterwards?
Any ideas would be much appreciated. I really like the idea of Captivate but these basic things are making it impossible to record even a simple demo easily and I have nearly 200 slides for a 10 minute demo. I'm about to throw it out the window!
Thanks
